HelpSmith is a visual help authoring tool allowing you to create CHM HTML Help files, Web Help , Word RTF, PDF, and Manuals from the same source. The reliable help authoring system provides a powerful MS Word-like Unicode word-processor for editing help topics with dynamic styles and live spell checker, advanced approach to working with graphical files, and many other unique features.

Based on the original technologies HelpSmith, enables creating documentation and help files from scratch and also enables importing help topics from Microsoft Word (.RTF), .HTML, and plain text files that can be written in multiple ANSI code pages.

HelpSmith helps you provide technical documentation for your own application in many output formats including context-sensitive HTML Help CHM files, a standard help format in Windows. HelpSmith has support for all the features of HTML Help, so you can create the hierarchical Table of Contents, alphabetical keyword Index, edit chm viewer's help windows, etc..

If you used other help authoring software before, HelpSmith provides the Import facility, that allows you import your existing help projects stored in HTML Help Workshop (HHP files) or directly from compiled CHM files.

The "What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get" principle makes working with HelpSmith as easy as working with regular office application. And, in fact, you do not have to learn any technical details to build professional CHM files and other documentation with the HelpSmith authoring tool.
